Autograph letters signed from F.H. Yates to Robert Morrison, Dublin [manuscript], 1829-1854.

Bulk of the letters are from F.H. Yates to Robert Morrison and date from 1829 to 1841, and are of a personal, social nature. (4) addressed "My dear Robert & Fanny," (5) signed Fred & Elizabeth Yates and (8-9) signed Elizabeth Yates, with (9) addressed to Mrs. Morrison only. Letters sent from a variety of locations in London, Brighton, Birmingham, and Brompton, with Morrison's address generally given as "Morrison's Hotel, Dublin" (2) mentions traveling all night to Bristol, arriving just in time to act, and asks Morrison to pass on a message to Calcraft. (5) mentions the first appearance of "the vagabond Jack Sheppard." (6) refers to his Adelphi mortgages and indicates that he does not expect that Morrison will get an appointment from Lord Erroll. (7) mentions that the last piece might be a go in Dublin "but it's such melancholy work, particularly for Calcraft." (8), from Elizabeth Yates to Mrs. Morrison, mentions her pleasure in hearing that Mr. and Mrs. Morrison are in town. (9), from Elizabeth Yates to Robert Morrison, chides him and Mrs. Morrison for keeping themselves "as much from us as if you were in Dublin." She invites them to dine with them on Saturday and to attend the evening rehearsal, adding "you know our business is too engrossing to permit us to do as other people can." (10) includes a sheet of biographical information on F.H. Yates, a printed portrait, and an envelope addressed to Mrs. Morrison, postmarked 1854 (possibly in the hand of Elizabeth Yates).
